Future Silicon based Systems not only may consist of a variety of highly complex SoCs having hundreds of millions of gates each but as well will represent the seamless integration of heterogeneous MEMs and nanoelectronic components. This will cause the design productivity to becoming a pre–dominant factor of success for the European Micro–Electronic industry to cost efficiently deploy the valuable possibilities of the emerging technologies yet eliminating their serious obstacles.
Exhaustive research and development in this area have been supported by MEDEA+ and the individual member states of the European Union throughout the past six years. As one outcome from this a group of the Medea+ members recently have completed a thorough EDA Roadmap.
Given the crucially enabling part a future Design–Methodology evidently is expected to take to support the industry′s value chain, the Medea–DAC 2006 is an appropriate platform at the right point in time to broadly reflect the Medea+ EDA Roadmap within that context. This will be performed in the light of the needs of the EDA–Users, the constraints of the EDA–Suppliers, and not the least the experience of those who are literally applying the EDA, i.e. the projects and its people behind. Keywords: High Level presentations on needs/challenges from technology, system, and EDA suppliers point of view
Presentations of particular EDA requirements in developing/integrating Silicon based Systems with focus on technology, system integration, and software
A variety of success stories giving evidence of the impact of completed Medea+ projects
