The second IEEE Life Science Systems and Application (LSSA) workshop is sponsored by IEEE Circuits and Systems Society with support from the National Library of Medicine/National Institutes of Health. The aim of this workshop is to provide a forum for presenting new advancements in systems and applications in emerging life science applications. We will also focus on identifying potential areas for research and collaboration between the life science and systems engineering communities. The workshop has a significant tutorial component intended to educate, to create awareness of life science systems and applications in the circuits and systems communities, and to stimulate multidisciplinary and collaborative research in this area. We will also have special sessions dealing with the following life science application domains, e.g., neuroscience, drug development, and public health, and life science technologies such as medical imaging, biochips, and life science automation. This workshop will consist of both invited sessions and contributed sessions. Invited speakers will give tutorial talks on the general area of life science systems and applications. Keywords: * Micro–nanoelectronic bio–systems and miniature instruments
* Biosensors and biosensor networks
* Biomedical image computing
* Biomedical automation and control
* High–throughput approaches in life science
* Modeling and simulation of systems biology
* Multi–scale signal processing and imaging
* Nanotechnology in life science
* Novel architecture and applications of large–scale bio–systems
* Systems and applications in neuroscience, drug discovery, personalized medicine, and public health
