Successful integration and interoperation of components, including commercial off–the–shelf (COTS) software, and existing systems has become essential to creating and maintaining responsive systems that meet business and mission goals. Very few organizations can afford to build such large systems of systems from scratch.<br>In this sixth ICCBSS – we look forward to expanding to issues of interoperability that have become critical for system development and acquisition. New technologies and domains have exploded in growth, along with the complexity and number of systems and systems of systems. We see a wide range of service oriented architectures, migration to network–centric operations, and an increasing application of free and open source software (FOSS).
