SAFE 2007 is the first in a series of biannual workshops on the topic of Signal Processing Applications for Public Security and Forensics, organized by the Industry DSP Standing Committee of the IEEE Signal Processing Society. SAFE 2007 will bring together experts, researchers, and practitioners in the area of signal analysis and sensor engineering.<br>The technical program will include subjects such as biodetection, infrastructure for anticipatory sensor networks, context–aware data reduction and summarization, minig and trend analysis, information accrual and heterogeneous sensor data fusion, RFID and agreeable targets, sensor web and intelligent ambiance.<br><b>Keywords:</b> * Fundamental technical issues in sensor–based security systems, related to sampling, signal acquisition and preparation, data analysis, and identification of multi–modal signals.<br>* State–of–the art in collaborative signal analysis and sensor engineering to address border and public security.<br>* Policy aspects of technical solutions; e.g., impact on personal privacy, international standards, existing legal frameworks, etc.<br>
