The seventeenth of a series of IEEE workshops on Machine Learning for Signal Processing will be held in Thessaloniki, Greece. The ancient city of Thessaloniki founded in 316 BC was named after the half –sister of the Macedonian king Alexander the Great. It is located in a privileged geographical position on the shores of the Aegean Sea. Once the second largest city of the Late Roman Empire, Thessaloniki is a living museum of Byzantine art. Today the city is a major business hub of the Balkans hosting three institutes of higher education including Greece′s largest university. Every September Thessaloniki holds the International Trade Fair (HELEXPO) followed by the popular International Film festival, while numerous other activities happen throughout the year. Keywords: Algorithms and Architectures: Artificial neural networks, kernel methods, committee models, Gaussian processes, independent component analysis, advanced (adaptive, nonlinear) signal processing, (hidden) Markov models, Bayesian modeling, parameter estimation, generalization, optimization, design algorithms.
Applications: Speech processing, image processing (computer vision, OCR), medical imaging, multimodal interactions, multi–channel processing, intelligent multimedia and web processing, robotics, sonar and radar, biomedical engineering, financial analysis, time series prediction, blind source separation, data fusion, data mining, adaptive filtering, communications, sensors, system identification, and other signal processing and pattern recognition applications.
