Abstract

Continuing the tradition established by its previous editions, the program of IWSSIP<br>2013 will include keynote and special lectures presented by eminent experts in the field, peer&#8211;reviewed contributed papers, posters, and special sessions&#046; The topics include signal processing, image and video processing, multimedia, as well as wireless<br>communications, networks, and security&#046; A special attention will be given to<br>interdisciplinary areas at the confluence of Engineering and Life Sciences, such as<br>Biomedical Signal and Image acquisition, processing and analysis, Signal and Image<br>approaches to Bioinformatics and other related emerging domains&#046;<br>Prospective authors are invited to submit full&#8211;length, four&#8211;pages long papers (including<br>figures and references) of novel research material&#046; All papers will be reviewed by at<br>least two independent reviewers and will be accepted based on originality, significance,<br>and clarity&#046; As previously, we target an acceptance rate of about 50%&#046; The review<br>process will be handled in EDAS&#046; Accepted papers will be indexed under IEEE Xplorer&#046;<br>The Best Student Paper Award initiated starting the 2012 edition will be continued in<br>2013&#046; The rules can be found on the conference website<br>IWSSIP 2013 is organized by the University "Politehnica" of Bucharest, the Faculty<br>of Electrical Engineering, with the support of the Romanian Ministry of Education,<br>Research, Youth and Sport, the Romanian Academy, the IEEE Region 8, and IEEE<br>Romania Section&#046; The event will be held in conjunction with ISSCS 2013, Technical<br>University of Iasi, Romania, July 11&#8211;12, 2013 (http://scs&#046;etc&#046;tuiasi&#046;ro/isscs2013/)&#046;<br>
