Abstract

Future Internet is the place where smart objects, smart phones, smart vehicles, computers clouds, cities and people interconnect, making use of dynamic and evolving intelligent network solutions and establishing the fundamental infrastructure for Intelligent Environments. Network ubiquitous access, enabling everyone and everything to be interconnected and able to send and receive data, to collect information (and not just data) from sensors and to control actuators in cyber–physical systems, is only possible if Smart Networks are in place.
Smart networking solutions are certainly the main enablers for the Internet of Things, for big data collection from a myriad of cyber–physical systems, for vehicular or other mobile devices network communications and even for generalized cloud support. Novel e–health and m–health applications, intelligent transport systems, smart–grid applications, smart electric vehicles charging, autonomous driving, smart clouds and smart cities applications will only be available and manageable if smart networking solutions are in place and able to provide interconnection to the global Internet. All these new trends put an increased demand and dependency on networking: on availability, on security, on quality of service, on resilience, on management.
The 2nd International Workshop on Future Internet and Smart Networks, FI&SN′2016, welcomes submissions of original research papers on all aspects of Future Internet and Smart Networks, ranging from concepts and theoretical developments to advanced networking technologies and innovative applications.
All papers accepted in the Workshop will be published as a volume of the Ambient Intelligence and Smart Environments Series of IOS Press and electronically available through ACM Digital Library. Both will be ISI indexed.
Topics of interest include, although are not limited to:
Networking for Smart Environments
Energy–aware networking solutions
Vehicular Networks and Smart Applications
Internet of Things for Connected Smart Objects
Automated Network and Services Management
Collaborative Networks in e–education and e–learning
Distributed Network Management
Security and Trust in Social Networks
Security and Trust Management in P2P
Game Theory based systems for Trust and Security
Delay Tolerant and Named Data Networks
Software Defined Networks and Cloud Services
Intelligent Transport Systems
Smart Networks for Smart Grids
