Recent years have witnessed an unprecedented development of the radio frequency identification (RFID) technology due to its low cost and non–line–of–sight communication pattern. RFID tags are becoming ubiquitously present in retail products, library books, debit cards, passports, driver licenses, car plates, medical devices, etc. As a result, RFID technology is shaping up to be an important building block in the integration of the emerging computing and communication systems, and thus a cornerstone enabling technology for Systems of Tiny Systems.
The purpose of this special session is to bring together a group of technology researchers from both academia and industry to explore how we can explore and apply RFID technologies in the design and development of systems of tiny systems and how to make RFID–based systems of systems more efficient, robust, and adaptive. Specific goals of the special session are to:
identify the RFID related technology and research opportunities and their applications in the SoS context,
discuss paradigm technology for better design and management of RFID–based SoS,
find the key research questions and challenges in building efficient, robust, and adaptive RFID–based SoS or Systems of Tiny–Systems,
expose the state–of–the–art research results in this area.
Topic of Interest
We welcome submissions from both academia and industry on this emerging multi–disciplinary research field. Papers are expected to explore fundamental or applied research and engineering problems related to all areas pertinent to RFID–SoS and the related fields. The special session will cover the following non exhaustive list of topics :
RFID–based systems design and implementation
Security and privacy in RFID systems
Traccking and localization in RFID systems
RFID based systems applications
Energy aware RFID based systems
Communications issues in RFID systems
Optimization in/of RFID systems
Modulation and coding schemes for RFID
RFID–based sensor networks
